JK Trust is the largest NGO working in the field of Animal Husbandry in India. Abiding by our commitment to empower the under-privileged sections of society to secure a better future, JK Trust Gram Vikas Yojana was conceptualised in 1997 as a rural development scheme of the Trust. JK BovaGenix is our latest initiative with the aim of undertaking pioneering research work in the field of Assisted Reproductive Technologies in Bovines. Till early 2016, our field work was limited to Artificial Insemination and health care of cattle. In March 2016, we added a revolutionary new activity, of producing calves from fresh & frozen IVF embryos where oocytes are extracted from Indigenous Breeds of Cattle at our Vadgaon Rasai Lab near Pune in Maharashtra state. Similar work is being undertaken at our Lab at Gopalnagar near Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh also.
After undergoing extensive training in the United States in the field of IVF and ET, our team of technicians have worked hard to achieve yet another milestone in our mission by producing calves by this very complex & computerised process requiring extremely precision work under an extremely highly sanitised environment. No untreated air or water can be used during processing. Temperatures are closely monitored and controlled even during power interruptions.
This will support & run parallel to the efforts of Government of India’s “Rashtriya Gokul Mission” aimed at preserving and propagating the indigenous breeds.
I send my best wishes to the team in achieving their goals!
